A constant Design Language
Having a constant Design Language allowed me to create a range of products which, not only followed the important and practical aspects of the design. Such as, vast internal airflow, a non ringing chassis and a strong and rigid overall form. But by doing this all the products are visibly and instantly related to one another and the Antipodes Audio Brand.
Another important aspect of this. Is that there is a clear and progressive product improvement curve.
this idea is clearly shown here as the smaller K10 is pictured above the larger K50 but the both look like they belong to the same family.
There were a few conscious design choices when designed the K10. The first was eliminating most of the top alternating cutouts, this was to create a simpler and cleaner design with a less cluttered aesthetic.
The second choice, was to have square edges along the side. This was to give the K10 a stronger stance and also this give the K10 a more tactile feel when holding the product, as one can feel the curves contrasting the flat edges.
The third choice was to highlight and portray the join of the two pieces of aluminium. This was to show that the K10 is made out of two solid pieces of aluminium and to also create a sharp and interesting design feature which is inevitable.
